September 3: Wear teal to help raise awareness
President Obama proclaims September to be National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
"While we have made great strides in the battle against ovarian cancer, this disease continues to claim more lives than any other gynecologic cancer. During National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, we honor all those lost to and living with ovarian cancer, and we renew our commitment to developing effective screening methods, improving treatments, and ultimately defeating this disease."

Ohio joins United States of Teal Campaign
The United States of Teal is the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance's campaign to raise awareness about ovarian cancer by gaining support of state legislative leaderships. Ohio turned teal thanks to House Speaker Armond Budish who has taken the pledge to help raise awareness and wear teal during National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September. The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio is proud of this recognition and thanks Speaker Budish for his commitment.

Our 5K Walk/Run is held every September to promote ovarian cancer education and awareness
Help us in our effort to prevent women from being impacted by this disease
The Strides for Hope 5K Walk/Run was created to help spread awareness to the central Ohio community. Held during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, it provides a festive opportunity for families to celebrate survivorship, and to honor those who have lost their battle with the disease. Since its inception in 1999, Strides for Hope has grown from 200 walkers and a handful of survivors to over 1,500 participants and almost 90 survivors. This emotionally charged event attracts people of all ages who want to spread the ovarian cancer message to our community.
This year's event will be held:
Sunday, September 12, 9:00 a.m.
Westerville Community Center
350 N. Cleveland Avenue
Westerville, Ohio 43082

Same day registration begins at 7:30 a.m., but you can avoid long lines by pre-registering online.
